Consider answering one (or more) of the following questions when sharing your story:

  • Describe what it was like going back to work or school after you had your child. What were your biggest wins? Your toughest challenges? What surprised you? What do you wish you had known before you returned?

  • How does your family make child care work? What sacrifices have you and/or your partner made to make it work?

  • What have been your biggest barriers to child care access? How has cost, schedule and availability, location, quality, employer support, IEP/special needs support, language issues, or something else affected your ability to obtain or continue child care?

  • How has access to child care (or lack thereof ) affected your earning potential? For example, have you ever had to choose between taking a job and your child care?

  • In a perfect world, how would child care give you the freedom or access to pursue career goals? What would be your ideal employment scenario, if you were guaranteed child care?

  • How do you want things to be different or better for when your kids have kids of their own?
