Neighborhood Villages Commends Early Education Funding in Senate Fiscal Year 2027 Budget
Senate FY2027 Budget Includes $1.87 Billion for Early Education and Care
BOSTON, MA – Neighborhood Villages, a Boston-based nonprofit dedicated to realizing a future in which all families have access to affordable, high-quality early education and care, released the following statement in response to the Massachusetts Senate’s Fiscal Year 2027 (FY2027) budget proposal, which commits $1.87 billion to early education and care, including $475 million for the Commonwealth Cares for Children (C3) grant program:
"We are grateful to the Massachusetts Senate for their continued commitment to early education and care in the FY2027 budget. At a time when federal funding for early learning programs is significantly at risk, this investment sends a clear message: Massachusetts will not leave its youngest children, their families, and the educators who care for them behind,” said Sarah Muncey, President and Co-Founder of Neighborhood Villages.
“We commend Senate leadership for recognizing that child care is not simply a budget line item; it is the foundation of our Commonwealth's economic and social well-being. By prioritizing early education and care, including continued investment in the C3 grant program, the Senate is helping to stabilize a sector that supports working families and strengthens communities across Massachusetts.
We look forward to working alongside Senate and House leaders as the FY2027 budget moves toward a final agreement, one that builds on this commitment and continues to advance a high-quality early education and care system that is equitable and accessible for all."
