Neighborhood Villages Teams Up With Baby2Baby, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Other Community Partners to Distribute Over 250,000 FREE Diapers to Families Struggling with High Costs
Let’s talk about the "bottom" line: parenting is expensive. Families across the Commonwealth are feeling the squeeze, with the cost of essentials like rent and groceries taking up a bigger share of the household budget. But for families with young children, there’s another rising cost that’s impossible to ignore: diapers.
Since 2023, diaper prices have jumped nearly 20%. According to Baby2Baby’s Annual Survey 2025, 18% of families’ monthly income is spent on diapers. Today, 1 in 2 U.S. families struggle to afford enough diapers to keep their little ones clean, dry, and healthy. This isn't just about comfort—it’s about opportunity. When a family can’t afford diapers, they can’t be mobile, participate in public places, and also can’t access child care, which means 1 in 4 parents are forced to miss work or school.
So, we at Neighborhood Villages teamed up with Baby2Baby and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts to pull off our biggest distribution operation yet! Check out this behind the scenes look!
The result? Over 250,000 FREE diapers plus 110,000 wipes and other hygiene products delivered to families across the Commonwealth.
But we didn't do this alone! We moved these mountains of supplies through 92 community partners like Economic Mobility Pathways. As one representative shared:
"Free diapers make a huge difference in a monthly budget. Otherwise, these moms have to set aside $100–$150 a month—that’s a massive chunk of money when you’re already trying to make ends meet."
For Neighborhood Villages President Sarah Muncey, this work is personal:
“When families are choosing between diapers and groceries, that’s not a personal failure, it’s a system failure,” Sarah says. “Our diaper work is about dignity. It’s about making sure parents have one less impossible choice to make.”
And we are not slowing down any time soon! Our goal is simple: safe and healthy babies, relieved parents, and families who can head to work or school knowing their kids are taken care of. Throughout the year, we plan to keep those supplies flowing to families. A huge thank you to Baby2Baby for their continued partnership in supplying the diapers and essential goods.
