Get to Know Marc Davino: Vice President of Development
Say hello to Marc Davino, Neighborhood Villages’ Vice President of Development.
Marc Davino, Vice President of Development
As a Boston resident of over 30 years, Marc is dedicated to the communities we serve. He brings extensive experience in the higher education and non-profit sectors, and is enthusiastic about utilizing his experience to elevate the early education landscape.
We spoke with Marc about his passion for giving back to others and his goals to support Neighborhood Villages in its mission.
What is your professional history coming into this role?
I spent 17 years working in higher education before transitioning to the non-profit sector and beginning development work in 2004. Since then, my career has centered around non-profit and human service organizations that serve some of our most vulnerable people.
My work has been at several Boston-based human services organizations, including AIDS Action Committee, the Boston Living Center, Victory Programs, Casa Myrna, and, most recently, Italian Home for Children.
What about Neighborhood Villages’ mission appeals to you?
For me, it's the depth of the organization. Not only are we working to transform early childhood education for the educators we partner with, we’re looking to make systemic changes to the space on the national level. We are a small but mighty organization, looking to understand what we can scale and implement not just locally, but regionally and nationally.
What does a typical day look like in this role?
The goals for this role include opening doors and creating new opportunities for growth, facilitating conversations with the team and new voices, keeping the organization’s goals on track, and looking at our systems and evaluating what’s working.
Ultimately, we are determining the best ways to amplify our mission to lift up educators and set every child and family up to thrive.
Why Neighborhood Villages?
I love making a difference in people’s lives. Professionally, it's been a blessing working with organizations that are really impacting change in the lives of our fellow citizens. Feeling like you’re contributing to society and the well-being of others feels good. I’ve always had the desire to do this work and I can’t wait to uplift Neighborhood Villages’ impact.
What are you most excited about in your new role?
I’m excited about a number of things. First, it’s all about connecting with the individuals who do this important work on a deeper level. I've been in development for some time and believe that the people who do the direct program work are the real champions. Second, I’m really excited to discover new ways to continue bolstering Neighborhood Villages’ impact to ensure it is the best incubator of change in a system that is in need. And third, I'm looking forward to learning more about the organization's structure and continuing to expand the team to achieve success as it reaches new heights.
We are thrilled to be working with Marc in our mission towards a supportive and inclusive system that sets up children to thrive.
